HISTORY


Challenge in the information world has develop something that can  standardize communication between existing computer systems.


  • 1979- NISO established a standard committee .
  • 1980- Council on Library Resources (CLR) development of  Linked System Project (LSP) 
  • 1988- The protocol moved from the LSP to NISO.
  • 1992 and 1995- Z39.50 Implementers’ Group (ZIG)created version 2 and version 3 .
  • 1994-Z39.50 begin use as international standards
